American Wine Society Annual Conference | November 4th

Pineau Des Charentes

On November 4th, Pineau des Charentes hosted an intensive seminar about “Vins de Mistelle” for the American Wine Society Annual Conference. If you are not familiar with Vin de Mistelle: it is a sweet fortified style wine from Europe produced by adding a high-strength version of the local spirit to unfermented grape must. Pineau des Charentes, Floc de Gascogne, or Macvin du Jura are the most prominent examples of the category. During this 90 min seminar, Pineau des Charentes flaunted its versatility through the neat tasting of 9 different Pineau (see below for the full list): young, old, white, rosé and red. French delicacies such as Cannelé from Bordeaux, blue cheese and quince paste revealed both the sweetness and boldness of this spirited wine.
